There are all kinds of ways to play an important role in the New Trier Democrats. Whatever your skills may be, there’s a committee where you can make full use of them. After you’ve looked over the list, if you’d like to find out how you can add your skills to a committee, please contact us by clicking on the Volunteer button below.
The Communications Committee promotes our organization, its activities and its public positions. The Committee develops or assists in the development of the language and graphics used to accomplish these tasks; making sure that those words and graphics consistently reflect the character of the New Trier Democrats. The work of the Committee is year-round with many opportunities for public expression. The Communications Committee’s areas of responsibility include:
- New Trier Democrats’ website
- New Trier Democrats’ newsletter
- News releases to the press
- Event photography
- Letters to the editor
- Op-ed articles
- Brochures and pamphlets
- Flyers and posters
People who enjoy communicating and have writing or graphic skills, or are adept at Internet and wireless communication, will find this committee is a perfect fit.
The Finance Committee is responsible for monitoring New Trier Democrats’ expenditures and receipts, and submitting reports to monthly Executive Committee meetings. Major recommendations as to spending (e.g. campaign contributions) and ways of raising money (e.g. events) are developed by the Committee for approval by the Executive Committee. The Finance Committee also monitors ongoing funding strategies. This committee seeks New Trier Democrats’ members who are interested in helping the New Trier Democrats acquire and maintain the funds needed to successfully operate all facets of our grassroots political activities.
The mission of the Membership Committee is to retain current members and to attract new members to the organization and encourage active participation by providing literature about the New Trier Democrats at events sponsored by the organization as well as community events, e.g. sidewalk sales, parades, etc. If you enjoy the process of building an organization, you’ll enjoy this Committee.
